A member of the premier Indian Administrative Service since 1971, Meleveetil Damodaran has held significant positions in the Central and State Governments and in India’s Financial Sector, before demitting office as Chairman Securities Board of India. He graduated with distinction in Economics and Law from the Universities of Madras and Delhi respectively. After a career spanning mostly regulatory and developmental assignments in the state of Tripura, he became the head of its Civil Services in 1992, the youngest ever in the country to hold such a position in the State Government.

As Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Banking Division, he dealt with the Government’s ownership functions of Public Sector Banks. Deputed thereafter to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), he scripted the turnaround strategies of three weak Public Sector Banks.

He was appointed the Chairman of India’s largest and oldest investment institution, Unit Trust of India (UTI) after its collapse. The restoring of UTI to health and strength under his leadership is probably the most successful turnaround story in India’s Financial Sector. He was also in charge of IDBI, another of India’s major financial institutions, at the same time.

As Chairman SEBI, he brought vastly improved practices to India’s securities market. He is widely acknowledged as among India’s foremost champions of Corporate Governance.

He has been the recipient of several prestigious awards for leadership, transformation and Public Services. He is also a regular in public speaking and an avid follower of sports. He is the Vice President of the All India Tennis Association.

He was voted the Finance Man of the Year 2004 by the Bombay Management Association. For leadership in Corporate Transformation, he won the Institute of Directors Golden Peacock Award. A recipient of the Priyadarshini National Award 2002-04 for Public Service, Mr. Damodaran has multiple awards under his belt for his contribution to Indian business.

He is presently Advisor and Chief Representative in India for the ING Group, Netherlands. He has joined us as Director and his expertise will undoubtedly steer our projects to dizzying heights.

With 36 years of rich and vast experience in PSUs and the Government of India, this 1968 batch IAS Officer has played a key role in re-structuring departments, human resource orientation and building world-class working culture in all the organizations he has served.

He has been Chairman, Board of Revenue (UP), Chairman and CEO of Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority, Managing Director of Air India, Secretary to the UP Government in the Departments of Small Scale Industries and Export Promotion, Food and Civil Supplies and Technical Education, among other equally responsible and respectable positions.

As MD of PCDF, he had successfully implemented the Operation Flood II in UP and changed the face of the Dairy Federation and made it a highly professionally managed organization in the lines of Anand Pattern of milk co-operatives.

His contribution in the Aviation sector is also unforgettable. He was the mastermind in bringing about the remarkable change in attitude and service delivery pattern of Indian Airlines. This in turn made the organization stand a chance in the stiff competition in the new open sky policy.

His role in the urban planning and industrialization of Greater Noida has given urbanization an entirely new meaning in India.

As a strong supporter of liberalization and economic reforms, Shri Kumar has contributed successfully in both industrial and finacial sectors of the Government of India.

He has joined us as Director and his experience, expertise and presence will help our Project reach unknown heights.

Having been the former member of the Board of Governors, Indian Institute of Management, Kolkata, he has also presided over Calcutta Chamber of Commerce as the President. He has also been a member of Regional Direct Taxes Advisory Committee under theMinistry of Finance, Government of India. He has also been a member of Economic Affairs Sub-committee, Confederation of Indian Industry, Eastern Region. He has been a member of the Steering Committee, Repository of Environmental Activities and Technology, Tata Energy Research Institute.

F.C.A with 49 years of experience in Corporate Management and Finance, he has been President of the Federation of Indian Hire Purchase Association. Also the former President of The Institute of Chartered Accounts of India, he was also the Chairman of West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation.

A Bachelor of Commerce and a highly qualified Chartered Accountant with more than 11 years of experience in financial services, technology, retailing and power.
