Millions of people are effected in Assam. Sahaj VLEs stand ready to help  with information and  relief. Please contact 0361-2229139, arupkumar.baishya@sahajcorporate.com

Millions of people have been effected after floods inundated the north-eastern Indian state of Assam, officials say. Local officials warned the situation was worsening because most of the rivers in the state were still rising. Brahmaputra River was reported to be flowing through the state at a dangerously high level. The districts worst affected by the flooding were Lakhimpur, Dhemaji and Jorhat.  Food to flood victims living in relief camps located on higher ground have been offered by local administration. But more help is required since no relief measures has been taken for the thousands of cattle and livestock trapped in the floods, and a huge amount of people are still stranded in water.
